UK,8vo wraps,Uncorrected Proof copy on proof paper.NFINE.No owner inscrptn. No shelf-wear to edges or corners - no nicks, tears or splits present.creases or.Bright,clean,sharp-cornered orange wraps with black printed ink letters to upper wrap and lightly sunned/faded spine/backstrip,rear cover plain orange without text.Top edges with light ageing and faint minimal, sporadic dust flecks,fore-edges brighter and cleaner without spotting. Internally, appears an unread copy with no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners - near pristine contents. The only fault seems to be a production one with slight wrinkling to spine/backstrip,due to the production technique of 'perfect binding'; i.e. the wrappers are glued to the signatures,as in all modern paperbacks.Passage of time means the glue dries, tightens and causes wrinkling. Uncorrected Proof copy on proofing paper, 12-256pp [paginated] includes 17 chapters and an Epilogue; plus [unpaginated] half-title with a synopsis and list up to date 12 titles to its reverse, title page, and another indeterminate separator page with a poetry verse [The Battle of the Baltic,by Thomas Campbell] to its reverse. Visually the exterior appearance is more than acceptable and particularly internally,is in an exceptional condition/state of preservation and presentation for a book of its 40+ year-old age [and nature, i.e an ephemeral paperback Proof copy.It is only the minor faults described that prevents a slightly higher grading overall.Despite that,it really is still an exemplary example for its cleanliness, brightness and lack of detracting faults associated with decades old paperbacks. In September 1800 Richard Bolitho,a freshly appointed rear-admiral,assumes command of his own squadron — but, as the cruel demands of war spread from Europe to the Baltic,he soon realizes that his experience, gained in the line of battle, has ill-prepared him for the intricate manoeuvring of power politics. Under his flag the Inshore Squadron has to ride out the bitter hardship of blockade duty and the swift, deadly encounters with the enemy. An old hatred steps from the past to pose a personal threat to him,but at the gates of Copenhagen, where his flag flies amidst the fury of battle, Bolitho must put all private hopes and fears behind him.
